John (Giovanni) Manarin arrived in Toronto as a new immigrant and started Donald Contracting with little more than a pick-up truck, a shovel, and a wheelbarrow. In those early years, business was conducted on a handshake. John built the company's reputation on fairness and honesty, earning fierce loyalty from his workforce, a foundation the modern company still stands on today.
The business remains family-owned, currently led by President Sergio Manarin. The Donald Group of Companies continues to be guided by the founder's original values of integrity, quality, and professionalism, stability, longevity, and lasting strength across every project they touch.
From a two-man crew, Donald Contracting grew into what it proudly describes as the largest concrete-and-drain company in Ontario. In 1977, the company was first to bring the stone slinger machine to the Toronto market, a decade ahead of the rest of the industry, demonstrating the adaptability and professionalism that defines the company's 70+ year history.
